Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #24 "Butterflies and Blooms"

"Butterflies and Blooms"
***please remember to add this graphic to your blog post***

Our May Guest Designer & Sponsor is
Ken Oliver!!

Throughout his education, Ken Oliver studied art and design, but ultimately followed a career path in sales and marketing that took him literally around the world working with clients and factories in Asia, Europe, Canada and the United States. His experience in sales, marketing and product development actually led him back to arts and crafts industry. Ken is an accomplished artist who specializes in watercolor, paper crafting, altered art, mixed media book binding and craft projects. Ken lives in Newburgh, Indiana on the banks of the Ohio River.

Check out this FAB project Ken made for our May "Butterflies and Blooms" Challenge.

"For this project, I wanted to do a "coloring" project with a bold graphic illustrative style, like you'd find in the adult coloring books that are so popular right now.

In this watercolor photo frame, I used one of my 8x10 Mixed Media Photo Mats, a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop and Color Burst.  The surface of my Mixed Media Photo Mat is covered with smooth watercolor paper, so it's the perfect surface for coloring with watercolors, markers, inks and colored pencils.

To create the background, I simply traced images from the stencil over the entire front of the Mixed Media Mat. Then, colored with a brush, water and Color Burst. I love the bold graphic look...it's very fresh, and it's a project that is perfectly suited for artists of all ages and skill levels.

And, coloring with Color Burst is mesmorizing!  The colors blend so well."

Ken is now selling some awesome products he created including: Color Bursts, Stick It, Best Ever Craft Mat, and Cut & Color Dies and Coordinating Stamp sets.

Ken is offering our random winner a set of Caribbean Brights Color Burst and a Best Ever Craft Mat!!

And now for some inspiration from our Design Team...
